Life-Size Head Prototype & 14-Inch Scale Model

Helping artists bring their ideas into the physical world is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do at Cru Bear Media. This project began with a life-size head used in the sculptor’s process for a life-and-a-half-scale, 9-foot statue.

Life-Size Head Prototype

We printed a life-size head so the sculptor could hold and study the form in the real world. The high resolution preserved subtle surface detail and gave him a reliable reference for proportion, expression, and texture.

The life-size prototype became a working tool in the studio as the artist prepared for a life-and-a-half-scale, 9-foot statue.

14-Inch Life-and-a-Half Scale Print

The life-and-a-half version was split into multiple parts and printed at very high quality before being assembled. This approach helped preserve detail and ensure a clean, successful print.

Supporting the 9-Foot Sculpture

These prints became practical working tools during the artist’s studio process and when reviewing the design with collaborators. A physical model communicates volume, gesture, and detail far better than screens.

Having both versions made it easier to evaluate changes and gather feedback before moving forward with full-scale fabrication.

Why Physical Prototypes Matter

  • Validate scale, proportion, and gesture quickly
  • Study lighting, texture, and form in real space
  • Communicate ideas clearly with collaborators
  • Test changes early before full-scale fabrication
  • Reduce risk and uncertainty during production

Bringing Ideas to Life

Need a high-quality prototype, statue, replica, or presentation model? Contact Cru Bear Media to discuss your project. We can help bring your digital designs into the real world.

For this sculpture project, we 3D printed a life-size head the artist used in the process for a life-and-a-half-scale 9-foot statue, along with a 14″ tall life-and-a-half version that was split into parts and printed at very high quality. High-resolution prototypes make it easy to evaluate proportion and refine the design before committing to the final piece.
